Years one and twoIn the beginning, the Spring Rendezvous was called the Silver Falls Rendezvous. The first two years location was warm and cozy but a bit on the loud side acoustically, one room on a concrete floor so our wee feets got a bit tired, yet still the players hammered on, brave in the face of swollen footsies... finally, late at night, folks sat around the central fire and cheerfully disrespected accordion players. This takes a lot of gall, comin' from HD players... |

Years three and fourIn years three and four we moved to a larger space where the music sounded great and we could run two workshops at a time in separate spaces, but it was so dang cold we all shivered. The fireplace was even more important... The cold caused grumbling: the blues were played at all hours, reportedly past 2 and 3 AM... We had fun, by cracky.

2004 |
Years Five 'till todayFor the fifth year we tried a new approach: A heated space that sounds good and is comfortably heated! Heated bedrooms (with possibly 2 beds per room, bedding provided!) as well, and of course the usual wonderful food and perhaps a minimal costume requirement for some portion of the program, as there's an option for a spa that holds (really!) 18 people. And the name changed to Spring Fling Rendezvous (so the wonderful signs Eileen and Jack made could still be used). |

Rick Fogel, Bonnie Carol, & Mick Doherty, 2005 |
In addition to a new location and name, instructors from outside the region began to appear at Spring Fling - Tony Elman (2004), Bonnie Carol (2005), Ken Kolodner and Maddie MacNeil (2006), Steve Schneider, Karen Ashbrook, and Paul Oorts, (2007), and this year, 2008, Bonnie Carol, Peggy Carter, and Linda Lowe Thompson! |
