Thanks to an amazing amount of work by one of our friends, we've got a tune "book" containing the tunes that are played here in the Pacific Northwest hammer dulcimer community. If you have any suggestions, additions, or corrections, please send them to me (ballers 'at' pioneer 'dot' net).

1) Hard copy: This is a pdf for printing. It's formatted with one tune per page so you can print out only those pages you want. There is an occasional slip into Bass Clef about which couldn't be avoided. Hopefully this doesn't inconvenience anyone. (Add the index and cover page from Barry)

2) Tunes without backup: This is a zip file containing MIDI files off all the tunes at a reasonable learning tempo - somewhere between slow and the right speed. Some are set to play with stresses similar to how some folks would actually play the tunes. Repeat the tune 12 times, but just as they appear on the page. Please note that they do not take into consideration things like introductions, or instructions to play the tune A-part B-part A-part C-part. Please be aware of this so you don't get the tune in your head the wrong way.

If you want to learn more about MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) here's a link to the Wikipedia article about it.

3) Tunes with backup: This is a zip file containing MIDI files of the tunes that include the chords shown on the hardcopy. They're played once through the tune and usually at a speed faster than you would normally play the tune. As with the other MIDI files, these aren't necessarily played properly in terms of introductions or part order and repeats. Please be aware of this so you don't get the tune in your head the wrong way.

4) Cheat Sheet: This is a pdf for printing. It's a handy list of all the tunes in alphabetical order with the first bar or two of the tune shown. Great for jogging the memory.

5) ABC file: This file contains all of the tunes in ABC notation format.

If you want to learn more about ABC notation format, here's a link to the Wikipedia article about it.
